5. Premium APIs – When and how to upgrade

– Once you’ve set up
your developer account, you can upgrade whenever you want. If you see in the dashboard that you’re getting
close to your rate limit or you’re maybe being
rate limited in the API, it’s probably a good time
to think about upgrading. To upgrade, you first have to add a payment card to your account. So, go to the organizational picture in the upper right-hand
corner of the screen and click on it, there will be a dropdown. Click on Billing. Now, click on the big gray plus sign with Add new payment method under it. We accept most major payment cards. Just enter your card details
and your billing address. If your billing address is in a country where value-added tax is applicable, we’re gonna also need your VAT number. Once we verify your payment information, we’ll redirect you to the
payment method screen. Go ahead and click on the blue Take me to
subscriptions button right under your card details. Once you’re on the subscription page, you’ll see your subscription settings. Click on the purple Upgrade
button on the right-hand side and you’ll see a chart
describing the differences between Sandbox-level access
and the Premium tiers. – Some of the differences between tiers include more tweets per request, longer query lengths, higher
rate limits, and more. By upgrading your Sandbox
tier to a Premium tier, you will receive more requests, access to both data
and counts information, more operator choices
and tweet enrichments, like URLS, polls, and
derive to Profile Geo. – Your billing cycle
will be month-to-month based on the day you first
signed up for Premium access. Any downgrade won’t
take effect immediately but will be on the next
time you would be billed so that you can still use up the remainder of the day
that you already paid for. On the other hand, if you need
more data or search request, you can upgrade at any time. Once you’ve upgraded to
a paid level of access, we’ll bill you immediately, but we’ll per rate your first charge so that you’re not being
charged at your new rate for days before you upgraded. If you’re in the highest
level of Premium access and you still need more
data, definitely reach out, we’d love to talk about
enterprise-level access. Follow us @TwitterDev and
